Treatment of Atrophic rhinitis by modified Young method

Background and Objective: Atrophic rhinitis is a main problem in developing countries. Different surgical methods were used to treatment of the disease but it was not successful. The objective of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of modified Young method in treatment of atrophic rhinitis. Methods: This interventional study was performed on patients with atrophic rhinitis in Babol during 1986-1990. All patients were operated by modified Young method and also we followed for one year. Findings: This study was done on 10 cases (9 cases were female and 1 was male) and they were at the 32-45 age group. All cases were completely treated and there was not any relapse after one year of follow up. Conclusion: Since, the outcome of this method was successful, it was suggested all patients with atrophic rhinitis should be treated by this method. |
