Clinical features of patients with non-traumatic hemorrhage with a spatula

Background and purpose: Subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) is a common and horrible disease and high rate of neurological complications.This aim of study, investigate the clinical characteristics of patients with SAH in Mazandaran.

Materials and methods: This research is descriptive and retrospective studies .With use of the information contained in the documents and records of patients with non-traumatic SAH. The sample size was 110. Clinical and epidemiologic data were gathered by the investigators. Results are presented as mean and standard deviation. Variables relationship with Pearson correlation test was used with a significance level of less than 0.05.

Results: The mean age of patients was 53 ± 16.92 years. The most common non-traumatic SAH in the age group over 40, especially 40 to 60 years. The average hospital length of stay was 14.7 days. Hypertension is highest prevalence in the study population compared with other risk factors.

Conclusion: All patients with sudden headaches, especially headaches that have a history of hypertension must be accurate and complete evaluation for SAH.
